Frugal Face- Makeup Kit for less!
I love that people think my makeup looks expensive!
I'm flattered that people are fooled by my drugstore makeup, knowing that I'm way too cheap to buy high end products on the regular.
There is a place for expensive products, and while I love seeing them on other people, I prefer to pay my car insurance on time.
I've definitely worked with the majority of high-end makeup products, BUT I'm the tight-wad who gets a free sample of the product, so I can find a drugstore dupe....I'm terrible, I know.
After years of perfecting my drugstore routine, I'm gonna save ya'll the trouble, and let you in on my favorite drugstore products.
I know that not everyone loves playing with their makeup as much as I do, so I wanted to show products for two different types of makeup looks; Full-Coverage and Everyday Natural. See the videos below for these looks!
Being Color Conscious...
Honestly, I've avoided doing this type of blog post for some time, mostly due to the fact that I am painfully aware of the lack of representation in drugstore makeup options, for skintones that aren't Caucasian.
However, I'm a big fan of IMAN's theory of that no woman is going to find her "perfect foundation" without doing some color mixing. Don't be afraid to mix same-brand foundation colors, to find your perfect shade!
If you're looking for a drugstore foundation with LOTS of color options; Loreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup has great quality, while still providing a variety of options.
Also, IMAN Cosmetics came out with an awesome new App, to help you find your shade as well. Best of luck, ladies!
Before You Paint...
You'll notice in my videos that I don't elaborate on my prep process for makeup. This is because I'm assuming you know what to do.
However, if you are like the high school me, you are probably still just slapping foundation on, not realizing that it would look SO MUCH BETTER if you take the proper steps.
Learn from my mistakes!
Prep....Cleanse. Moisturize. Prime. Let it become your makeup motto.
* Also, keep in mind that these videos are not makeup tutorials. I'm a makeup nerd, not a makeup professional, and there are already so many UH-mazing makeup tutorials for these products on Youtube. Check these tutorials out, if you're unsure how to apply your products well. Or ask a friend for help. Makeup geeks love to share their nerdiness with others :)

Not to Throw Shade...
To all you ladies who are still applying your foundation with your fingers, I promise I will not throw shade your way. However, application tools DO make a huge difference if you're looking to build higher coverage with your foundation or eyeshadow.
If your skin has blemishes or discoloration, you'll want to have a foundation that actually does it's full-coverage job.
To get a flawless coverage, invest in some makeup tools:
- Real Techniques Complexion Sponge $5 Walmart or $2 Target
- ELF Studio Angled Blush Brush $3 Target or $3 Walgreens
- EcoTools Large Powder Brush $5 Target or $8 Walmart
- EcoTools Eye Enhancing Duo Makeup Brush Set $6 Walmart or $5 Target
Total: $15
Now if you're broke because of student loans, or your current finances won't let you indulge in this makeup starter kit, don't sweat it!
Start simple with purchasing the foundation/mascara, and work your way up to a full kit, over time. Christmas is coming up, so put some of these items on your list or ask for gift cards to your local drugstore!
Also keep in mind that most drugstores have great return policies for unwanted makeup, so look those over and experiment with your options.
Frugal greetings, my friends!
